Sage XP Fly Rod
I heard the other night that Sage is going to re-introduce the XP back on the market. The speaker of this information seemed to be somewhat knowledgeable on the subject so I assumed it was true. I checked the Sage web site and there is no mention of the XP being re-introduced but that doesn't mean the information is not correct. Anyone else heard if Sage is bring the XP back?

Re: Sage XP Fly Rod
That would be great. I love my 3 wt XP. I wish I had a 10 foot 5wt XP.

RE: Sage XP Fly Rod
I saw on another web site Sage is coming out with the Accel in August which is maybe what he was talking about.

Any idea how this rods action would match up with the XP? My .02 cents here but the XP was the best single hander rod Sage ever put on the market. My guess is they pulled it as they were having a heck of a time selling the rest of the rods in their line up (bad pun intended).

RE: Sage XP Fly Rod
Fred,

The guy that mentioned the reintroduction of the XP said the exact same thing that it was Sage's best rod and the thus the reason for bringing it back. I am not sure if this new rod (Accel) is what he was talking about or if there will be a new Sage XP.

RE: Sage XP Fly Rod
Wasn't the "VXP" the old "XP"?

This is an excerpt from one of my catalogs..."Sage rod designer Jerry Siem took what was previously know as the XP rod series, lightened them up considerably, and revised and tuned the tapers to come up with an absolute masterpiece.".

I am not familiar with these rod to say yes or no, I just know what I have read. Maybe one of you guys can clear this up???

Speysquaech,

You might be right. I just took a look at the Sage web site and the VXP rod and it is cheaper than I paid for my XP but it is hard to tell if it is the same rod.

The new Accel will replace the VXP. Maybe that's what you heard? Or the person passing the info along misunderstood.

Not sure how well the XP will sell these days. Sage reintroduced it(through Cabelas?) a number of years ago, and I don't believe it was a big seller. Great rods though. I have 4, and the 9' 5wt has been my go to trout rod for several years.

RE: Sage XP Fly Rod
You are probably right the speaker misunderstood the release was for the VXP. Thanks for clearing that up.
